East West Bank Rectifies Security Error
I do not know if security error is the right word to use for the error in my credit card account with East West Bank. As I have written a few months ago, I discovered that there was a wrong entry in my account of a sizeable amount. Supposedly, this was used in an Asean country, which at that time, I have not even visited yet. So, imagine the shock that I felt upon seeing that item in the list and worse, I have to wait for 45 days for it to be rectified.
Fortunately, East West Bank was able to straighten that matter out and so I was reimbursed for the payment that I made for that error. I just hope that it will not happen again. Here are a few things that I have learned during the entire process.
1) Always check the entries in your bill. Sometimes, we overlook many things in our bills so there is a tendency that we might be paying expenditures that we did not make.
2) If this happens to you or anyone you know, you can actually call the bank and demand that you don't pay for the amount first, until that amount was verified. According to some sources that I asked, your providers really allow this, especially if your account has good standing with the bank.
I was just so relieved upon seeing that amount returned in my bill and my faith in my bank restored.
