RIP Liezl Martinez

This year's first casualty from local showbiz is Liezl Sumilang Martinez, who comes from local showbiz royalty.  She succumbed to lung cancer on Saturday, March 14, 2015.  Prior to lung cancer, Liezl was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2008, after two years of treatment, among them stem cell treatment, she recovered and was able to serve in the MTRCB (Movie and Television Review Classification Board).  Unfortunately, in 2012, cancer cells were discovered in her left lungs which ultimately caused her demise.  

    Baptized as Ana Lisa Sumilang, Liezl's parents are Romeo Vasquez and Amalia Fuentes who are both popular during their youth.  Liezl was formally introduced into the movies in the project "Portrait of an Angel." Cousins Nino Muhlach and Aga Muhlach are  actors whose showbiz careers have been colorful and long-lasting.  

Liezl is survived by her husband, Albert Martinez, a veteran dramatic actor himself and children Alyanna, Alyssa, and Alfonso who are also in showbiz related fields.   She will be buried at the Heritage Memorial Park, while those who want to pay their last respects, can go to Arlington Memorial Chapel.    Rest in Peace Liezl.  You lived a happy and fulfilled life.
