5 Travel Essentials

The most important principle in traveling should be "travel light."  But prior to leaving for your destination, you must do a little research to find out if some of the items that you might need can be availed in your place of travel these could be batteries, sanitary napkins, 3 in 1 coffee, bottled water and snack items.  If these are not available in your destination then these are some of the things that  you  should make sure you have with you.   So information is key in determining what to bring for a trip.  But regardless, here are the things that you must have wherever you go.  Aside from your "kikay kit" (vanity kit), which you should have with you whether you go on short and long travels as well as daily trips to work.   But whether you go to a short or long trip here are the things you should not miss to bring with you.

1.  Identification Cards -  Anything to inform authorities who you are will come handy especially when you buy plane tickets or ship tickets.    So pack your license, passport, company id or others as long as it has your photo.  Be careful when you pack ids as they are easy to lose and get misplaced.  If its going to be a "wet" trip, wrap all your money, ids, cell phones and other electrical gadgets you have in a zip lock.

2.  Extra money -  Be ready for sudden turn of events.  Accidents happen and you might need to find a different accommodation because the toilet/bathroom is not to your liking or you found some bugs in your room which means that the management is not particular about cleanliness.  So, I'd instantly move out of that
location if I were you.  Another alternative is using credit card.  However,  credit cards will be useful in urban areas only.   Whenever you find a chance to conserve your cash when u travel, conserve it.  And whenever you find a chance to use your credit card, use it.   There might be an emergency case where you will need your cash.

3.  Cell phone charger/extra phone - Your phone has plenty of uses.  It could be used as a flashlight at night, so make sure you charged it enough to last the duration of your travel.  If not, bring an alternative phone.  And to conserve the battery, turn your cell phone off when inside the plane.   This would give additional battery life.  Conserve, if you can, all your resources for emergency purposes when you go on a trip.  Unless you have reason to splurge and you really can afford to.

4.  Bottled water -  Depending on where you're going, a small bottle of water good enough to wet parched lips is essential.  Dehydration is dangerous and you can always refill the bottle when you see a clean source of water.

5.  Camera -  Don't miss once in a lifetime opportunities to capture rare photos.  And never depend on your cell phone camera so that you extend the battery life of your cellphone.

These are tiny objects only but are the most important items to have when going on a trip.  Other stuff such as clothes and footwear are secondary.  But that is just for me, we all have our own preferences and quirkiness when we go traveling.  Some people will put books, magazines, ipod, in their travel essentials.  Well, as they say, different strokes for different folks.
