How to Quit Smoking
There should not be any other reason to stop smoking but your desire to spend more years with your family and most especially, to enjoy a healthier, longer span of life. I was a smoker for over 20 years. Started at the age of 20, although I am a less than average smoker (almost 10 sticks a day) but since I did this destructive habit for over 20 years, millions of cells in my body have been burned with every puff I made. But a year ago, call it enlightenment or whatever, I made a solemn vow to quit smoking. I was so ready to give it up and I did it overnight. I quit smoking and have not had a puff since then. Which brings me to the conclusion that it only takes willpower to quit smoking. Only weak people can not bring themselves to stop smoking. We should not let anything overpower us especially something as destructive as nicotine. The problem is that some people just don't want to even try. Well, I was in their situation many years ago and it sure was difficult. I would quit for two days and I am back again to smoking at least 5 sticks a day. Then it would gradually increase to 10 sticks. I was not proud of myself and tried the same attempts to quit but ultimately returned to smoking again. The cycle went on and continued for the past 20 years or more, a pitiful saga of my battle against nicotine.
Now that I have successfully quit this fatal habit, I made it my mission to encourage others to do the same. Specially now that the sin tax has been passed, the price of your favorite cigarette probably doubled up. It is another reason to stop smoking. I do not believe in the gradual method. I do not believe in hypnosis, in nicotine patches, in e-cigarette (which i find really expensive) and the motion of enhaling and exhaling further reinforced that very same rythm that my mouth was accustomed to when I was smoking. So not a good idea at all. My only advise to those who really want to and are ready to give up smoking, is exercise your will power and self-control. I advise you to throw away whatever cigarette you have in your possession now
and whenever you have the urge to smoke, always say, I am stronger than you. You will suffer from withdrawal symptoms for sure. You need to condition yourself by saying, while looking at your cigarette being advertized on television, " I am stronger than you" Say it 10 times or more when you get up in the morning and you will gradually feel that you are not looking for the nicotine anymore.
If you tried my advise, leave a comment so that others may learn from your success. Ciao for now.
