Can Vitamins Make us Live Longer?

Do you believe that vitamins make us live longer? This is a tough question really because if vitamins wouldn't give us that additional help to prolong our lives, then what will?  When we were in elementary school, we were taught that having sufficient and the right vitamins  in our body increases our resistance to diseases and prevents us from seeing our doctors frequently. Remember the adage:  "an apple a day keeps the doctor away"?  Well, it has since been replaced by:  "A banana a day keeps the doctor at bay."  Apparently, potassium is an important mineral and many doctors have recommended banana in the daily diets of a lot of children, and even adults for additional source of potassium.

So let's go back to the issue we have here.  Do vitamins really help us live longer?  Or are vitamins just a small portion to the equation leading to a totally healthy body? What components do vitamins have that are beneficial to our physical health?  According to studies, vitamins directly affect the quality of our life in that having sufficient vitamins  makes our body function more efficiently.  Vitamins are really needed as they speed up bodily functions such as metabolism and conversions of food to energy.   Plants are the common source of vitamins.  In olden times, people just know that some plants are good for the body.  It was a  simple principle that they follow so they eat a generous amount of these kinds of vegetables or plants or plant products such as fruits.

Vitamins are not considered a form of nutrition because vitamins simply act as facilitator for the conversion of food into energy.  Without the aid of vitamins,  the processing of food into energy to be utilized by the body will not take place.  That's why insufficient vitamins is more risky to the health than having over supply of vitamins.  When the necessary nutrients have been utilized by the body, it becomes fortified thus resistant to disease-causing elements.  So knowing where the necessary vitamins can be found and digesting these good sources is always advised to be identified in order to get that great body.  Mind you though, just because you don't feel anything in your body that could be a cause for worry, doesn't mean  you're as fit as Hercules.  It is still advisable to get that annual check up just for tuning up, I suppose.
